Help Bring Angus Home to Julie

After five years of learning to live with disability, Julie is ready to find some independence again with her Great Dane by her side.

We’re raising $2,500 to help bring Julie and her new partner together.

Meet Julie

Julie has always been an outdoors person. She loved canoeing, camping, hiking, fishing, gardening, and exploring the woods.

She traveled with her family, worked in medical technology, taught firearms safety, and spent her days finding ways to stay busy and connected to her community. In 2020, everything changed.

After becoming seriously ill, Julie developed long-term health complications that have affected her mobility, balance, strength, and energy.

Today, she often relies on a walker or wheelchair and has had to give up many of the activities that once filled her life. But Julie isn’t sitting still.

She turned her love of gardening into a small urban farm, growing and selling microgreens to local families, farmers markets, chefs, restaurants, and other farms.

“I may be broken, but I’m not dead.”

Why Angus?

Julie first considered a service dog after one of her physical therapists suggested it might help with her mobility. Then she met a Great Dane.

At a local wood-fired pizza farm, one of the Danes leaned against Julie and helped her feel steady on her feet.

Her husband immediately understood.

“That’s what you need. A big dog to hold you up.”

Julie started looking into Great Danes as mobility service dogs and eventually found Northeast Canine.

Now she’s been matched with her own Great Dane partner, Angus.

The Final Step

Northeast Canine provides highly trained Great Danes to qualified recipients at no cost to the person receiving the dog.

Your support helps make that possible by funding training, veterinary care, supplies, transportation, and ongoing support.

Our goal is $2,500.

Every gift helps bring Julie and Angus one step closer to their life together.

$25. $50. $100. $250.

Whatever you can give, it all moves Angus closer to home.
