Puppy Great Dane In Training

NEC Training Academy

At Northeast Canine, we specialize in training Great Danes to support the veterans and first responders who’ve given so much.

Our program is more than obedience, it’s about building powerful, intuitive, life-saving partnerships. From day one, we focus on mobility, confidence, and trust at the NEC Training Academy.

And it all happens at no cost to the recipient, because we believe no hero should go without help.

Selective Breeding

We start by choosing Great Danes known for calm temperaments, intelligence, and physical suitability. Our breeding ensures every dog has the innate potential to succeed in mobility and emotional support roles.

Early Development

From day one, our puppies are raised in nurturing, high-stimulus environments that build confidence and adaptability. This early exposure to noise, people, and environments is key to future service success.

Specialized Training

By six months, our Danes begin mobility-focused training, learning to prevent falls, assist with balance, and navigate public spaces. We also integrate cues to help with PTSD-related challenges like anxiety or disassociation.

Matching Process

We profile potential handlers based on personality, lifestyle, and specific needs to find the right dog for each individual. A structured bonding process, including a critical week-long pairing period with an NEC trainer, ensures a deep connection between the dog and handler.

Graduation and Beyond

Each dog must pass rigorous testing,  including Assistance Dogs International (ADI) public access standards before being placed and officially graduated. And our commitment doesn’t end there: we provide ongoing check-ins and support post-placement.
