Applying for a Great Dane service dog through Northeast Canine starts with a brief interest form to help us understand your needs, environment, and fit for our program.

If we believe there’s potential for a match, we’ll invite you to complete a full application, which includes medical documentation and references. From there, qualified applicants will be considered for placement

1. Initial Form

Tell us a bit about your background, home environment, and why you're seeking a Great Dane service dog.

2. Review

Our team reviews every application to determine whether a match might be possible. Please note: We have limited availability and cannot guarantee placement.

3. Full Application

If you’re a good fit for one of our dogs, you’ll be invited to complete a more detailed application with supporting documents.

‍Our program is built around partnership, not just placement. Be prepared to commit time, energy, and care to this process and your potential future service dog.

Training doesn’t stop at placement. Ongoing communication and follow-through are key to a successful match.

Timing & Waitlist

NEC receives more applications than we have dogs available. Wait times can be extended, and priority is given to those with the clearest need and best fit.

Great Dane Service Dogs

At Northeast Canine, we exclusively train Great Danes because they offer a unique combination of strength, intuition, and calm temperament.

Because of their size and training, Great Danes require space, structure, and consistent care. We seek applicants who are prepared for the realities of owning and partnering with a giant breed.
